This blog would have never been created if it hadn’t been for the support and encouragement of some very special people in the PR industry.
In no particular order, my thanks go to Rod Cartwright, Paddy Blewer, Eva Maclaine, Rob Smith, Stuart McBride, Asif Choudry, Marcel Klebba, Amanda Coleman, Neli Ngqulana and many others. If I omitted to mention anyone, I apologise – and thank you.
I’ll be addressing a variety of topics here – some difficult, some easy, some contentious and some timely. They will all be underpinned by my lifetime mission, one could argue, to demonstrate that Public Relations can be so much more than campaigns and media relations.
What we can and can’t do is simply down to us – in Public Relations, there are no boundaries of knowledge and continuous development. The more you learn, the better you become. The more you listen, the more you’ll understand.
I chose to call my blog “Power and Influence” because this summarises perfectly our greatest assets: power and influence. What we choose to do with them, it’s entirely up to us.
I’ll also shortly start a Twitter chat – one whose topics will be chosen by you. I would like this chat to discuss real issues you are facing, solutions you seek or ideas that might help you.
Please send me an e-mail or a DM and tell me what it is that you seek answers/solutions to. Then, totally anonymised and with nothing to trace it back to you, I’ll share it with my community of PR practitioners – it will be a live, brainstorming exercise.
Our journey begins today.
